May 21 Patch Guide: v0.106.0 Enemy Balance Pass, Defect Adjustments & Mummified Hand Rework
A full breakdown of the v0.106.0 beta patch — Infested Prism rework, Skulking Colony / Aeonglass tweaks, every card change across all five characters, and the new Mummified Hand priority system.
What landed on May 21
Mega Crit shipped beta v0.106.0 on May 21, 2026 — the first patch under the new bi-weekly cadence announced in v0.105.0. The headline focus is enemy balance: a full Infested Prism rework, another pass on Skulking Colony, adjusted Aeonglass moveset, and reworked Haunted Ship and Punch Construct movesets.
Around the enemy work sits a broad card balance pass touching every character, a Mummified Hand rework that introduces a four-tier selection priority, new animations and Epoch art, expanded Bestiary entries, and a long list of bug fixes — single-player softlocks, multiplayer state divergences, and UX polish.
- v0.106.0 release date: May 21, 2026 (beta branch).
- First patch under the new bi-weekly cadence.
- Headline focus: enemy balance, with reworks of Infested Prism and Mummified Hand.
- Card pass touches every character, with the biggest swings on Defect.
- Main / live branch is still on the v0.104.0-era build.
Enemy changes that matter
Infested Prism is fully reworked. Mega Crit did not publish full new stats, so treat the encounter as unknown until you hit it — bring a flexible deck the first time and avoid committing routes around old Prism counters until the community profiles the new behavior.
Skulking Colony picks up its third buff in two months: HP 70(75) → 75(80), Hardened Shell 15 → 20, the Smash move is removed (now uses Zoom on turns 1 and 2), and it no longer gains Block. Net effect: it is tankier and more consistent, but the predictable Zoom opening makes turn 1–2 planning easier than the old Smash variance.
Aeonglass had its moveset adjusted and Wither status plus Withering Presence reworked. The 3-turn pattern is still the structure, but the exact intent text on the wiki should be treated as authoritative over older guides. Haunted Ship's Ramming Speed is gone — it alternates Swipe and Stomp now, always starting with Swipe after Haunt. Punch Construct reorders its combo (Ready → Fast Punch → Strong Punch) and applies Frail instead of Weak.
- Infested Prism — fully reworked; treat as unknown until profiled.
- Skulking Colony — third buff: tankier (HP 70→75, Shell 15→20), no Block, Smash → Zoom.
- Aeonglass — moveset adjusted; Wither and Withering Presence reworked.
- Haunted Ship — alternates Swipe/Stomp; always starts with Swipe after Haunt.
- Punch Construct — Ready → Fast Punch → Strong Punch; applies Frail instead of Weak.
Card balance, character by character
Ironclad: Drum of Battle now respects Replay and card-play interactions, Howl From Beyond moves from start of turn to end of turn, Entrench can now pull extra Block from Nimble-style enchantments, and Unrelenting goes 12(18) → 14(20).
Silent: Follow Through is reworked and renamed Scare, rarity bumped Common → Uncommon. Predator drops Uncommon → Common. Pounce climbs 12(18) → 14(20). Effect: the cheap-draw spine of Silent shifts — Predator is far easier to find in Act 1, but the rework of Follow Through changes how mid-fight tempo arcs look.
Regent: Furnace Forge 4(6) → 5(7), Minion Sacrifice Block 9(12) → 8(11), Sealed Throne upgrade changes from Innate to −1 Energy. The Throne change is the biggest one — the upgraded card is now a recurring discount, not a fixed opening guarantee, which reshapes how you think about its build slot.
Necrobinder: Death March additional damage 3(4) → 4(6) (notable buff), Debilitate debuff duration 3(4) → 2(3) turns. Defect: Fusion drops to 1 Energy but now Exhausts (loses Exhaust on upgrade), Synthesis 12(18) → 14(20), Shatter 11(15) → 7(11) — a sizable nerf. Colorless Fasten loses 1 Block on each tier (5(7) → 4(6)).
- Ironclad — Drum of Battle, Howl From Beyond, Entrench, Unrelenting all improved.
- Silent — Follow Through reworked → Scare; Predator → Common; Pounce buffed.
- Regent — Furnace buff; Minion Sacrifice nerf; Sealed Throne upgrade now −1 Energy.
- Necrobinder — Death March buff; Debilitate nerf.
- Defect — Fusion reworked (now Exhausts, 1 Energy); Synthesis buff; Shatter big nerf (11→7).
- Colorless — Fasten Block 5(7) → 4(6).
Mummified Hand rework: a four-tier priority
Mummified Hand used to pick its discounted card at random from the rest of your hand. v0.106.0 swaps that for a four-tier priority — the relic looks for the highest tier with at least one valid card and picks randomly within it.
The tiers in order: (1) cards costing 1 or more with a base cost of 1 or more; (2) cards costing 1 or more (regardless of base cost); (3) cards with a base cost of 1 or more that have been modified to 0; (4) random. In plain terms: free cards with a "real" original cost are deprioritized, X-cost and 0-base cards stay at the bottom of the pile, and the relic now reliably accelerates the kind of card you actually wanted to discount.
- Old: random card in hand.
- New tier 1: cost ≥1 AND base cost ≥1 (your "real" priced cards).
- New tier 2: cost ≥1 (regardless of base cost).
- New tier 3: base cost ≥1 that has been modified to 0.
- New tier 4: random fallback.
- Net: the relic now consistently discounts cards you actually want to play.
Art, audio, and fixes worth knowing
New animations: Ironclad heavy attack, Necrobinder cast, Regent Sovereign Blade. Epoch art added for Booting Up, Soup, Poisoner, Scribbles, The Calm; updated for Hello Hello! and Friendship. Phobia mode picked up alternate portraits for five enemies. Bestiary now lists Kaiser Crab arms, Decimillipede, and Parafright. Leaderboard adds a global rank paginator and shows other players near your score.
Fix highlights worth remembering: Infested Prism softlock fixed (relevant if you were avoiding it pre-patch), Test Subject no longer gains extra Strength in phase 2 (and its multiplayer HP scaling is corrected), Aeonglass first-move intent shows the correct debuff icon, and replayed cards now show appropriate damage if their supporting powers wore off. On multiplayer specifically: potions are canceled when their target dies mid-resolve, multiple event-combat state divergences are patched, and the Crystal Sphere divergence is closed.
