Beta Branch vs Main Branch: What the Split Means for You
After v0.103.2 the main and beta branches keep separate leaderboards and progression. Here is what changes for casual players, climbers, and modders.
Why the split happened
Before v0.103.2 there was effectively one leaderboard. After v0.103.2 the main and beta branches keep separate scoring records. The reason is simple: beta builds change weekly and frequently invalidate scoring assumptions, so mixing them with stable main scores produced unfair comparisons.
The split also means achievements and epochs cannot be unlocked while running daily or custom challenges. Those modes still play, but they no longer feed the global progression systems.
Which branch should you play?
Stay on main if you care about leaderboard ranking, achievements, or you mainly play to climb Ascensions. Switch to beta if you want to test next-patch balance early, play multiplayer with the latest scaling fixes, or you mainly play to explore.
Switching is reversible — beta opt-in lives in the Steam properties menu — but your save data is shared, which means a beta-only card or relic can briefly appear in a save you later play on main.
- Main: stable, scored, achievements active.
- Beta: weekly changes, separate leaderboard, no achievements while playing daily / custom.
- Save data is shared — careful with branch swaps mid-run.
