Slay the Spire 2 Colossal Flower Event: Take the Gold or Reach Deeper?

The Colossal Flower event in Slay the Spire 2 pays Gold at every stage, or the Pollinous Core relic if you keep paying HP. Here is what each choice costs.

How the Colossal Flower event works

The Colossal Flower is a Slay the Spire 2 event that lets you earn Gold at multiple stages, but every step forward is paid for with HP. Each stage asks you the same question: take the Gold that is already in front of you, or lose HP and go deeper for a better reward.

Because the reward grows with every step, the event is a clean risk-versus-reward check. If you keep pushing deeper without paying attention to your health, you can easily put the run at risk, so deciding when to stop is the whole decision.

  • Extract Nectar: take the Gold offered at that stage and end the event.
  • Reach Deeper: lose HP to move closer to the final reward.

Colossal Flower choices and rewards

The event runs through three stages, and the numbers change at each one. The final step is where the reward changes shape: instead of more Gold, reaching the center hands you the Pollinous Core relic.

  • 1st choice — Extract Nectar: gain 35 Gold. Reach Deeper: lose 5 HP.
  • 2nd choice — Extract Nectar: gain 75 Gold. Reach Deeper: lose 6 HP.
  • 3rd choice — Extract Nectar: gain 135 Gold. Enter the Center: lose 7 HP and obtain Pollinous Core.

What Pollinous Core does

Pollinous Core is the payoff for going all the way in. During combat it lets you draw two additional cards every four turns, which is a repeating supply of extra cards rather than a one-time burst — so it is especially useful in longer fights.

  • Draw 2 additional cards every 4 turns during combat.
  • Best value in long fights, where the extra draw has time to repeat.

Should you take the Gold or reach deeper?

Taking the Gold can be tempting, but the long-term value of the final reward often makes pushing deeper the better option: the Pollinous Core can provide a strong boost to your run depending on your build, which usually outweighs the immediate benefit of the extra Gold. If you have an HP buffer and no difficult fights coming up, pushing toward the final reward is usually worth the risk — the total HP loss is not extremely high, so going for the relic is the better option in most cases.

Your decision should still depend on your current situation, which includes analyzing your HP and the stage of the run. If you encounter this event early and your health is already low, taking the Gold can be the safer choice, since it helps with early shop purchases and upgrades.

  • HP buffer and no difficult fights ahead: push toward the final reward.
  • Early event with low health: take the Gold.
