Conflagration Rework: Ironclad’s New Vulnerable Payoff
Conflagration was reworked in v0.104.0 from a per-attack scaling AOE into a 4-5 hit multi-strike. The new version is much stronger with Vulnerable, much weaker without — here is how that reshapes Ironclad drafting.
Old vs new behavior
Old Conflagration: deal 8(9) damage to all enemies, plus 2(3) per other Attack you played this turn. New Conflagration: deal 2 damage to all enemies 4(5) times. Same energy cost, very different damage profile.
Old version rewarded long Attack-spam turns. New version rewards Vulnerable stacks: every individual hit takes the +50% bonus, so 4-5 hits compound into much higher real damage than the single old number suggested.
- Old: 8 + 2/attack — scales with attack count.
- New: 2 × 4 hits — scales with Vulnerable.
- Same cost, different best-fit decks.
What this changes in drafting
New Conflagration becomes one of Ironclad's strongest AOEs if you can apply Vulnerable reliably. Bash, Thunderclap, and any Vulnerable potions go up in priority noticeably. Without a Vulnerable source, Conflagration is now mediocre and you should pass on it more often than before.
It also pulls Ironclad slightly toward debuff-payoff drafting and away from pure Attack-spam, which thematically aligns the rework with the rest of v0.104.0's "fewer single-card glue pieces" direction.
- Pair with Bash / Thunderclap / Vulnerable potions.
- Skip Conflagration if your deck has no Vulnerable.
- Slightly raises priority of debuff-payoff Ironclad lines.
