Description

Blank the Spire is an unofficial fan mod for Slay the Spire 2 that lets you create your own custom playable classes, then import them into Slay the Spire 2 to play them.

describe a class → get an import code → paste it in-game → restart → play.

  1. Start at www.blankthespire.com, create a class. You will be given a code.
  2. Get the mod from Nexus Mods or from Steam Workshop here: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3803255976
  3. Paste your code into the appropriate place in the mod options menu. Restart your game client when prompted (or click the restart button in the mod menu)
  4. Play your custom class in Slay the Spire 2!
Be as detailed or as loose as you like when describing your class.

Blank the Spire is totally free, but the compute to power it is not. You will need to bring an API from a major provider (Anthropic, OpenAI and OpenRouter keys work best) or use one of our tokens.

A free mod for Slay the Spire 2 on Steam. Forge on any device; play on your PC. The mod is free and open source (MIT) at github.com/ryanrinkel/BLANKthespire — there is nothing to buy. Also on the Steam Workshop.

Unofficial fan project. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Mega Crit. Requires owning Slay the Spire 2.

Transparency: AI-generated content
Forged classes (card text, names, splash art) are generated by AI on the website, at your request, and enter the game only through your import code. This download itself contains no AI-generated assets — it is the mod's runtime plus the vocabulary of mechanics the generator is allowed to use. Generation is constrained to that vocabulary and schema-validated, so forged classes are guaranteed to load and play.

Generative AI disclosure: forged classes (card names and text, relic, class identity, splash and card art) are generated by AI on the website at your request, coded partially by AI agents and enter your game only through an import code you paste. The files in this download are the mod's runtime plus the mechanic vocabulary the generator may use; they contain no AI-generated assets themselves. Screenshots on this page show AI-forged classes.

Installation instructions
Option A — Steam Workshop (recommended)
Subscribe on the Steam Workshop and Steam does the rest — no folders, no unzipping, and updates arrive automatically. BaseLib (the mod loader) comes along automatically as a Workshop dependency — you never install it by hand.

Option B — Manual install (this download)
Only for people who can't use the Steam Workshop (no Steam copy of the game, an offline machine, or a hand-managed mods folder). One download (BaseLib is bundled in this zip).

Find your STS2 mods folder. In Steam: right-click Slay the Spire 2 → Manage → Browse local files. You'll land in the game folder. Make a mods folder there if one doesn't already exist.
Unzip BlankTheSpire-v0.4.0.zip into that mods folder. When you're done it should look like:
Slay the Spire 2\
  mods\
    BaseLib\          ← from the zip
    BlankTheSpire\    ← from the zip
Launch the game. If it loaded, the title screen will say it's running modded. (To double-check, the log at %APPDATA%\SlayTheSpire2\logs\godot.log prints RUNNING MODDED near the top.)

Updating later? Just re-unzip a newer zip over the same folder, overwriting.

On Linux (Ubuntu / Steam, incl. Steam Deck): same idea — the mod is platform-neutral; only the paths differ. It works whether STS2 runs natively or through Proton. Right-click Slay the Spire 2 → Manage → Browse local files, make a mods folder if needed (typically ~/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/Slay the Spire 2/ or ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Slay the Spire 2/), then
unzip BlankTheSpire-v0.4.0.zip -d "<game dir>/mods"
Forge a class and play it!

Go to blankthespire.com and sign in. No password. Sign in with Google, GitHub or email to forge and keep your classes.
Type a class concept and click Forge the class. You'll get an import code (starts with BTSC.). No time to forge? The site lists ready-made starter classes to copy.
Copy the code.
In-game: main menu → Mods / mod settings → BLANK the spire → paste the code into Import a class code → Import → Restart when prompted.
After the restart, start a new run and pick your forged class.

The mod has to restart to load a newly imported class — that's expected.

Main features
A whole class from one sentence. Robot Overlords build a playable class — cards, mechanics, identity and all. 🤖 Each forged class gets its own cards, relic, starter deck, and splash art.
Real mechanics, not reskins. The forge maps your theme onto the game's build engines (the archetypes) and picks the strongest combination itself — orbs, summons, poison, stances, statuses, potions, reactive triggers and more.
Guaranteed to load. Generation is constrained to the mod's real vocabulary and validated against a JSON schema, so forged classes are guaranteed to load and play.
Import codes. A class is a short text code. You may use your generated classes freely, including sharing their import codes. Someone forged a class you like? Copy the code to play it.
Shareable class pages. Every forge gets a page on the site showing its cards, relic, and art.
Forge on any device; play on your PC. On a phone? Forge away — the class is saved to My Classes. Open blankthespire.com on the PC that runs Slay the Spire 2 to grab the code, or send it to yourself.
Bring your own API key — free, unlimited forging. Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, OpenRouter and more; your provider bills you. Your key stays only in your browser.
Or let us run it on our models. One token forges one class on our models. Tokens are received as a thank-you for donations; donations cover the cost of tokens when you run them without an API key.
Free and open source. The whole thing — mod, website, generator — is MIT on GitHub. It includes no game code, binaries, or copyrighted game data — you need to own Slay the Spire 2.

Requirements
Slay the Spire 2 installed on Steam (Windows, or Linux / Steam Deck — native or Proton). You need to own the game to use it.
BaseLib by Alchyr — the mod loader BLANK the spire depends on. It already comes bundled in this zip, so you don't have to grab it separately. BaseLib is MIT-licensed; source at github.com/Alchyr/BaseLib-StS2. If you already have BaseLib installed, keep whichever copy is newer.
A free account at blankthespire.com to forge classes. Forging happens on the website, not in this mod. Bring your own LLM API key and forge as much as you like, or use the site's hosted models. No account is needed to import a code someone else shares.

Shout outs
Alchyr — for BaseLib, the ModTemplate, and the wiki. BaseLib is what loads everything; none of this runs without it.
Mega Crit — for Slay the Spire 2, for shipping it moddable, and for being extremely awesome.
