STS2AutoSlayMod

by Thebuda4v1.5.0

Unlocks the AutoSlay built in testing automation for the game. I have been using it to validate my mods don't crash the game by simulating a ton of games quickly. Has config options for specific characters and game behavior

Description

Features
  • AUTO SLAY button on the main menu: a new button sits just above Quit in the main menu that kicks off an automated run immediately, no developer console needed.
  • Configurable: When you click the AutoSlay button a config menu will pop up! (New in 1.2.0)
  • Pause and resume mid-run: press F9 at any time while AutoSlay is running to freeze it in place. A banner appears on screen confirming the pause. Press F9 again to resume. While paused the game is fully interactive so you can inspect the board state. NOTE: Combat will progress while paused, just slower. This pauses out of combat events for you to look around.
Usage notes
⚠ Save File Info
The game uses separate save files for modded and unmodded play:
  • Unmodded: %APPDATA%\SlayTheSpire2\steam\<STEAM_ID>\profile1\saves\
  • Modded: %APPDATA%\SlayTheSpire2\steam\<STEAM_ID>\modded\profile1\saves\ (quick copy paste: %APPDATA%\SlayTheSpire2\steam\)
If this is your first time installing a mod, your progress won't carry over automatically. To fix this, simply copy your save files from the unmodded folder to the modded folder. Make sure to copy (not move) so you have a backup. Check out the Unified Save mod.

Config file:autoslay_settings.json is created in the same folder as the DLL on first launch. Each field has an inline _help_ comment above it explaining the valid options. Changes take effect the next time you launch the game.

Logs: If you need to report a crash, %APPDATA%\Roaming\SlayTheSpire2\logs\godot.log is the most useful file to send. It contains some basic identifying info (computer name, hardware, install path) send at your discretion.
Installation
  1. Go to your STS2 install directory: STEAM\steamapps\common\Slay the Spire 2\
  2. Create a folder called mods if it doesn't exist.
  3. Extract into that folder so the layout looks like:
mods\STS2AutoSlayMod\STS2AutoSlayMod.dll
  1. Launch the game, it will detect the mod and ask you to restart in modded mode.
Please read the save file info above since STS2 uses separate saves for modded and unmodded. If you want your progress to carry over, copy it as described.

Notes:
  • This mod does not alter cards, balance, or game rules — it only unlocks and extends the built-in AutoSlay runner that MegaCrit uses internally.
  • The loop after-run mode is great for stress-testing but will run indefinitely until you close the game. There are some specific edge cases where the game still closes. Trying to track those down but they are hard to find (i.e. rare cases where the AI loses a run, a pop up or something unexpected causes the timeout catch to close the game after 30s)
  • Loop works best if all Epochs are already unlocked! Or else it will stop the game each time it unlocks one. There are console methods to unlock all epochs easily.
  • Intended as a dev/testing tool. Bug reports are appreciated.
  • Crashes have been identified for specific events and battles. Trying to work through them but this is a non-release tool (I literally have to set the game to non-release to launch it) so it is a bit hard to debug.

Known issues:
  • Punch Out/Punch Constructs event can softlock.
  • If the auto player exhausts its whole deck, it can softlock. Looking at you Eidolon...
